How robots can close the near-field sensing gap

Use a task-first view to understand line-array LiDAR range input for near-field robot detection and its system boundaries.

Near-field LiDAR sensing around a mobile robot

Far-field scanners, cameras, and proximity switches each have coverage and near-distance limits. Obstacles and edges close to the robot still need range input designed around the mounting position.

TF-NOVA uses a line-shaped light spot to provide range information across a lateral area. Use the current product material for its exact range, interface, and environmental capability.

Sensor output is not a safety rating or stopping distance. Vehicle speed, load, control delay, blind spots, and real targets belong in system validation.
