Scenario
Application scenario
Assistive focus uses LiDAR to add target distance, while final focus quality still depends on optics, imaging algorithms, the target region, and device calibration. LiDAR does not replace the complete autofocus system.
Engineering problem
- Low light or low-texture targets can reduce image-only ranging stability.
- The LiDAR measurement zone and image focus region require spatial calibration.
- Transparent, reflective, small, or multiple targets need an explicit selection rule.
Why LiDAR
Direct range can narrow lens search or select a focus preset and then work with image feedback in a closed loop.
Workflow
- Define the focus target region, working range, and response requirement.
- Calibrate the LiDAR measurement zone against the camera or projector optical path.
- Map distance and status to lens position, focus band, or search start point.
- Validate low light, multiple targets, transparent surfaces, and reflections.
