Scenario
Application scenario
Smart-door anti-collision must cover a zone that changes with door motion. LiDAR can provide distance or line-pattern area input but does not independently classify obstacles, control motion, or establish functional safety.
Engineering problem
- The door envelope changes with opening angle and can create blind zones.
- Pedestrians, children, posts, adjacent vehicles, and low objects differ in geometry.
- Sunlight, rain, contamination, paint reflections, and body vibration require vehicle validation.
Why LiDAR
A compact line-pattern LiDAR can provide near-field area input for the body controller to combine with door position and action logic.
Workflow
- Define the door envelope, target set, and minimum detection zone.
- Design body mounting, clear line of sight, and door-angle association.
- Integrate distance or area state into slowdown, stop, and fault logic.
- Validate real targets, weather, light, contamination, and durability.
